According Times of Israel, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has defended his decision not to inform the United States about the recent Israeli air raids on Gaza, which targeted Hamas military chief Mohammed Deif.

When asked whether he chose not to inform the Americans ahead of the strike because they might oppose it, Netanyahu laughed off the notion, stating: "I don't see it that way."

"The Americans know our policy," he said, implying that it is also the policy of the US government regarding terrorism. "Why take the risk of something leaking out?" he added.

Netanyahu noted that in a matter of seconds, Deif and his deputy would have "disappeared back underground" if the operation had been delayed or compromised.

The Israeli leader emphasized that his government informs its allies when necessary, but in this case, he deemed it prudent to withhold the details from the US administration.

Regarding calls for a state commission of inquiry into the October 7 catastrophe in Gaza, Netanyahu said there have long been demands for various types of investigations. However, he reiterated that "the time for this is at the end of the war," without specifying what kind of probe he would favor.
