2027:Nigerian Community Leader in UK Questions Obi's Influence, Says He Has Right To Express Himself

opera.com 2 days ago

Benjamin Kuti, the head of the Nigerian community in the United Kingdom, has expressed doubts about the impact of Peter Obi's recent remarks on the upcoming election in Nigeria. Kuti, also known as Oluomo of Daby, emphasized that the community focuses on substantive issues, unlike Nigeria's "stomach infrastructure" politics.

Speaking with SaharaReporters, Kuti stated, "Peter Obi has a right to express himself... but his opinion is not as valid as the opinions of millions of people in the UK and around the world." He added, "The UK doesn't engage in stomach infrastructure politics like Nigerian politicians do. Nobody is giving anybody N2,000 to vote for a candidate."

According to Sahara Reporters, Kuti noted that Obi's viewpoint, though noteworthy, does not represent the views or choices of the Nigerian population in the UK. Instead, the community is excited about the 30 candidates of Nigerian heritage contesting for parliamentary seats in the UK's general election.
