During the burial ceremony of Tom Ojienda's mother in Nyakach Constituency, Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna delivered a stern message to his colleague.

Sifuna, who serves as the secretary-general of the ODM party, cautioned Ojienda against aligning himself with the Kenya Kwanza government and its associates, particularly those from the UDA party.

Addressing the gathering, Sifuna expressed concern that Ojienda was being misled by politicians associated with UDA.

He warned Ojienda that his political aspirations, especially his chances of winning in the 2027 elections, could be jeopardized if he were to depart from ODM, the party that had sponsored him to the Senate.

"I urge you, Tom Ojienda, to avoid engaging in verbal disputes with me following your recent electoral setback. Your political future lies within the ODM party. Those advising you otherwise are only working towards your failure," Sifuna emphasized.

Sifuna further revealed that he had taken proactive measures by contacting 86 ODM MPs, urging them not to leave the country to oppose the Finance Bill 2024.

He criticized Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua for his stance on government policies, questioning his motives and integrity in light of recent developments.

The senator's remarks did not go unnoticed, as they prompted a reaction from the audience. Some mourners reportedly walked out during his speech, indicating the intensity of the political tensions and divisions within the gathering.

Despite the discord, Ojienda acknowledged Sifuna's role as ODM's secretary-general and remained firm in his support for the Kenya Kwanza government.

The event highlighted the complexities and rivalries in Kenya's political landscape, where personal and party allegiances often intersect with broader national issues.
