Five to Die by Hanging for Herder’s Killing in Osun

An Osun State High Court sentenced five men to death by hanging for the abduction and murder of Fulani herder Ibrahim Adamu. The crime occurred after Adamu paid a ransom but recognized one perpetrator, leading to his murder. The defendants, initially arraigned in 2021, were found guilty of conspiracy, kidnapping, and murder. The court rejected the defense's plea for mercy, basing its verdict on the evidence presented, including confessions and physical evidence.

Lagos Set to Close Olusosun Dump

The Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) plans to shut down the Olusosun dumpsite in Ojota to address longstanding environmental and health concerns. Director of Public Affairs, Sade Kadiri, highlighted the move towards advanced waste treatment initiatives, including Waste-to-Wealth and Waste-to-Energy projects. LAWMA aims to transform waste management in Lagos with partnerships for sustainable solutions and public health measures, emphasizing hygiene and proper waste disposal practices.

Govt alone can’t solve housing issue in Lagos — Sanwo-Olu

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State emphasized that the government alone cannot resolve the housing deficit in Lagos during the commissioning of housing projects in Amuwo-Odofin Local Government Area. He praised the collaboration with the Lagos Building Investment Company and private partners for their commitment to providing affordable housing. Sanwo-Olu called for continued partnership from the private sector to tackle housing challenges and ensure every Lagos resident has access to decent housing.
