The former senator who represented the good people of Kaduna Central Senatorial Zone, Senator Shehu Sani, has lamented, noting that most Nigerian youths can mention to ten English football clubs, but they can't mention too 10 Nigerian football clubs.
Speaking further, the former lawmaker noted that the same Nigerian youths can mention top ten Nigerian musicians, but can't mention top 10 English musicians, thereby noting that the youths are patriotic in music, but unpatriotic in football.
Senator Shehu Sani made this disclosure in a post he made on his official X handle on Sunday evening.
He wrote: "Most of our younger generation can name Top Ten English Football Clubs but can’t name Top Ten Nigerian Football Clubs. They can name Top Ten Nigerian Musicians but can’t name Top Ten English Musicians. Patriotic in music and unpatriotic in Football."
Over the years, most Nigerian youths have lost interest in Nigerian football league, due to poor management and other reasons, focusing on English premier league and other European football leagues. The Nigerian Football Federation must do the needful, so to develop the country's league and make it more attractive.
