In a blunt interview on News Central TV, the Spokesperson of the Labour Party in Lagos State, Ife Salako defended Senator Ireti Kingibe's position as the only elected official after the President within her jurisdiction and argued that Wike must respect her authority. He questioned Wike's commitment to the Constitution and the established system, citing instances where Wike has undermined democratic processes.

He highlighted Wike's open support for an opposition party and presented evidence of election rigging in favor of the APC, orchestrated by Wike. He claimed that Wike's actions directly impacted the election outcome, as he allegedly instructed others to manipulate the results in favor of the APC, despite the Labour Party's purported victory in Rivers State.

He asserted that Wike's misconduct warrants imprisonment if Nigeria's justice system were functioning effectively.

He said, "Senator Ireti Kingibe is the only elected office after the president in that space, that should be respected and given the authority to perform her duty. So, Wike needs to understand this. Is Wike a respecter of the Constitution? Is Wike a respecter of the system and structure? No. This is a man who openly disclosed his support for an opposition party and there has been video evidences of people who he used to rig the election in favour of APC. People had come out to say Wike asked them to rig the election, Labour Party won the election in Rivers State, but they rig it for APC because Wike wanted them to rig it for APC. Such a man should actually be in prison if we have a country that is functioning."
