Rivers Crisis: Fubara Is Just Like A Man Who Sees A Burning Bush, Jumps Into It - Kabir Akingbolu

An extensive study of the current political situation in Rivers State was given by attorney Kabir Akingbolu, who mostly attributed the unrest to the contentious ascent of Governor Siminalayi Fubara.

During a TVC News conversation, Akingbolu likened Fubara's rise to prominence to leaping into a burning bush. He said the present unrest was caused by the governor's political ploy backfiring.

Akingbolu claimed that because Fubara and his predecessor, Governor Nyesom Wike, had made a gentleman's arrangement, Fubara was fully aware of the dangerous conditions when he took office.

He claimed that the reason for the current political unrest is Fubara's intention to change the terms of this agreement in the middle of his tenure.

In his words, "The governor knew what he was going into. It's just like a man who sees a burning bush and jumps into it. You agreed to do this thing."

"When you get there, you think you can change the rule in the middle of the game. It's not possible because he brought you there, and you have had some understanding and gentleman agreement."

Akingbolu's observations coincide with a period of severe political unrest in Rivers State, as several groups compete for control.
