In light of ongoing unrest in the Southeast due to Nnamdi Kanu's prolonged detention, Honorable Obi Aguocha, representing Ikwuano-Umuahia Federal Constituency in Abia State, shared his perspective on the issue. He emphasized that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu cannot be content with an insecure Southeast. Aguocha argued that releasing Kanu could aid in identifying those who economically benefit from the crisis in the region.

Expanding on his point, Aguocha highlighted the critical economic contribution of the Southeast to Nigeria, suggesting that an insecure region would be detrimental given its economic significance.

According to him, "If you remove Nnamdi Kanu from consideration, then I will reveal those who are benefiting from crime, high levels of criminality, banditry, and kidnapping in the Southeast. Like I said, the Southeast today is ravaged by bloodshed, and the president cannot say he is satisfied with an insecure Southeast, nor are the Southeasterners satisfied with the current conditions in the Southeast."
