The Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs Musalia Mudavadi has given his views on the sustained anti government protests that has clocked its third week now.

In a message to ambassadors, Musalia Mudavadi acknowledged that citizens of Kenya have expressed their legitimate concerns with the government of Kenya.

However, while it is within their constitutional right to demonstrate peacefully, he assured the government's commitment to ensure the countries security is intact.

He assured the ambassadors that while there might be tension in the country, the country's long-term security is assured.

He further reiterated President William Ruto's readiness to engage with the youths of Kenya and listen to their concerns.

Musalia Mudavadi was writing to ambassadors of foreign nations to address their fears over the security situation in the country.

This is after tension rose over the past three weeks as anti government protests persisted.

In what started as peaceful protests led by young people famously known as the Gen Z, the country witnessed chaos that resulted to people storming parliament buildings.

The protesters were agitating for the rejection of the Finance Bill 2024 which sought to introduce fresh taxes on top of those imposed by the Finance Bill 2023.

After their pleas fell on deaf ears, and parliament forced the bill through, protesters, in their anger, overpowered the police and forced their way into parliament.

The incident was historic and it exposed Kenya to international ridicule for its overwhelmed security sector and the disrespect accorded to the parliament building, which falls among the protected areas in the country.
