Germany not party to Ukraine war, says Scholz

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has reassure citizens that his country would not become a party to the war in Ukraine by continuing to support Kiev in the fight against Russian forces.
“Yes, I give this guarantee’’, he said in response to a question in the Bundestag parliament yesterday, echoing comments he had made before.
“That’s what I stand for as chancellor,’’ he said.
Lagos flooding: FG begins drainage clearing on federal roads

The Minister of Works, David Umahi, has ordered the desilting of drainages along federal roads in Lagos State with a view to deflooding the highways.
The Federal Controller of Works, Lagos State, Olukorede Kesha, disclosed this in a statement made available to journalists on Thursday.

The directive came after business and commercial activities were grounded on Wednesday following a 10-hour downpour in many parts of Lagos and Ogun states.
Edun: we’ve made progress in forensic probe into N30tr loans

The Federal Government has made progress in the forensic probe into the N30 trillion Ways and Means loans advanced to the immediate past administration by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy Wale Edun told senators yesterday.
He also blamed the spike in freight costs for the delay in the takeoff of the electric and Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) vehicles.
The minister pledged that his ministry would intensify efforts in monitoring the revenue generating agencies to be up and doing.
Band A electricity consumers tariff now N209.50/kWh

For the third time in four months, the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), yesterday approved another round of upward review of electricity tariff for customers on Band A.
The new tariff which became effective on Monday is now N209.50 per kwh, up from N206.80/kWh.
Already, Distribution Companies (DisCos), have notified electricity users on the band of the hike. For instance, Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) Plc said in a statement yesterday: “Effective immediately, the tariff will be adjusted from N206.80/kWh to N209.50/kWh. This review has been duly approved by NERC as captured in the multi-year tariff supplementary order.” The statement which was signed by the IBEDC Acting Managing Director Francis Agoha.
