Borno: Suicide Bombers Attack Funeral, Wedding Ceremonies, Over 30 Killed

In a recent development, suicide bombers attacked funeral and wedding ceremonies in Gwoza, Borno State, as reported by Arise TV.

Reports indicate up to 30 people were killed, and over 100 others were injured.

This tragic event marks a return of suicide bombings in the state, known for violent Boko Haram attacks.

Gwoza, located in the southern part of the North-east state, was once the Emirate headquarters of the insurgents, who killed the traditional ruler of the town.

Suicide bombings by the insurgents had ceased until Saturday's incidents, causing fear of renewed terror.

The Director General of the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Dr. Barkindo Saidu, confirmed the multiple attacks.

The Emir of Gwoza, Alhaji Mohammed Shehu Timta, confirmed the attacks at wedding receptions and a burial ceremony in the town.

An eyewitness, Musa, reported that the first suicide bomber targeted a wedding ceremony.

Another witness, Ibrahim Dogo, stated that everywhere was thrown into panic as people had to run for cover.

The state Commissioner of Police, Yusuf Lawal, confirmed the attack, stating that it was carried out by a female suicide bomber.
