It has been revealed by Mr. Doyin Okupe, who once served as the Director General of the Obi-Datti Presidential Campaign Council, that Bola Tinubu was the one who advised MKO Abiola of the precise moment at which he would be detained by the military government that was in power at the time, after his declaration of himself as president.

While speaking, Mr. Doyin Okupe disclosed that after MKO Abiola declared himself as the country's president in 1993, Bola Tinubu called him (Abiola) on the phone from the United States of America, and he (Okupe) picked up the call because Abiola was eating, and then handed the phone over to Abiola after announcing the caller.

In addition, Okupe said that following their conversation, Abiola informed them that Tinubu had verified that he would be detained by twelve o'clock midnight. After that, he went on to mention that when the troops came to arrest him, Abiola's wife, Kudirat, hurried downstairs and closed the gate in an effort to prevent the soldiers from entering the home because she was attempting to prevent them from entering. The military eventually pushed their way inside and detained MKO Abiola, he went on to say. He made this information public.

Over the course of Sunday evening, Mr. Doyin Okupe disclosed this information via a post that he made on his official X account.

Some parts of the post read: "At about 10pm Senator Bola Tinubu called him from the US on his phone which I picked because he was eating. I handed the phone to him after announcing the caller. After their discussion Abiola told us that Tinubu has confirmed the time of arrest would be 12mid night."
