In a recent statement, Hon. Amobi Ogah, representing Isikwuato/Umunneche Federal Constituency of Abia State, has expressed his views on the proposed creation of an additional state for the South East region, in a recent interview with The Sun.

Hon. Ogah addressed several key issues, including the region’s longstanding ambition to produce a president.

Hon. Ogah responded, underlining the importance of equitable treatment for the South East.

He explained the feelings of marginalization within the South East, drawing a comparison to a family dynamic.

He highlighted the deep-seated issues of representation and fairness that have fueled the calls for Biafra.

Hon. Ogah suggest that addressing these grievances through political restructuring and the release of Nnamdi Kanu could significantly reduce separatist sentiments in the region.

Hon. Ogah called for equitable treatment, underlining desire for inclusivity and fairness within the Nigerian polity.

"My brother, let me tell you, the simple best truth of the day. If Nigerian government gives us one state to balance with other regions, and release Nnamdi Kanu for Igbo people, my brother, nobody will talk about Biafra. See, like I explained to you before, when you have like two or three kids and one is feeling that he is not taken care of like the other, naturally, that child will not be happy. The burning fire in our hearts is that we are feeling that we are not recognized like others," he said.
