MR IBU: Family Holds Christian Wake Keep to Honor Veteran Actor

The family of late Nollywood actor, John Okafor popularly known as Mr Ibu is set to lay the veteran actor to rest. A Christian wake keep will hold today in his hometown of Eziokwe Amuri to honor the legendary actor.

According to the statement released by the family, the burial ceremony will begin on Tuesday, June 25 with a novelty match between Nollywood and Nigerian professional football league team, Enugu Rangers which was played at the Rangers International Stadium in Enugu on Tuesday.

Yesterday, Wednesday June 26, A candlelight procession and live entertainment, tagged "Mr Ibu's Night" was held to honor his memory.

Today, Thursday June 27, a Christian wake will be held at his compound in Eziokwe Amuri, Nkanu West and the funeral service will take place on June 28.

The 5-day burial ceremony will be wrapped up on Sunday, June 30 with a thanksgiving service in church for family members, friends, and sympathizers.

Mr Ibu passed away on March 2nd at the age of 62 after a long battle with his health. He had been unwell for months and underwent multiple surgeries, including the amputation of one of his legs.

Before his demise, Mr Ibu had featured in over 200 Nollywood movies. He was known for his unique facial expressions and body language which made him a beloved figure in the Nollywood industry.

The legendary actor who passed away at the age of 62 after a long battle with his health is a well beloved figure in the Movie industry and was widely known to be a devouted Christian. May his gentle soul rest in peace.
