Sachets of milk, Milo, N2,600, others recovered from armed robbers during gun duel with security men

Some sachets of milk, Milo, the sum of N2,600, among other items, were recovered from two members of a robbery gang after a gun duel with security men which led to the killing of other members, it was gathered on Saturday, June 29, 2024.

The Nasarawa State Police Command, which announced the development on its X handle on Saturday, disclosed that the two robbers, whose names were given as Yusuf Lawal and Hamza Abdullahi, were arrested by men of the Karshi Division of the command in collaboration with the military.

It was gathered that a distress call was received by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of the station about an ongoing robbery operation around Karshi by-pass.

When the station the information, police operatives, in collaboration with the military, moved to the scene, but on sighting the security men, the gang members were said to have engaged them in a gun duel.

The command wrote: "Consequently, two of the criminals were fatally injured and rushed to the hospital, where they subsequently died while receiving treatment, and others escaped with bullet wounds."

The area was also said to have been combed where Lawal and Abdullahi were arrested and are currently in custody giving more useful information to the security men about their nefarious activities.

According to the command: "Exhibits recovered from them included three cartridges, three cutlasses, 19 handsets of different brands, two laptops, nine pairs of shoes, a wristwatch, three torchlights, sachets of milk and Milo and the sum of N2,600.

They are expected to be charged to court at the completion of the investigation.
