24 miscreants arrested at Oshodi for robbing passers-by charged to court, jailed 2 weeks each

Twenty four young men described as miscreants, who were arrested at the Oshodi area of Lagos State and charged to court by the state government, were on Monday, July 8, 2024, sentenced to two weeks imprisonment each.

The Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources in the state, Mr Tokunbo Wahab, who announced the development on his X handle, said the young men were arrested on Sunday afternoon.

They were said to have been arrested following complaints from residents and passers-by over their nefarious activities including robbing the people and dispossessing them of their valuables, especially early in the morning and late at night.

Following their arrest by officials of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps, popularly known as KAI, they were arraigned at the Mobile Court in Oshodi on Monday and each of them was sentenced to two weeks imprisonment without option of fine.

The Commissioner wrote: 'Twenty four miscreants arrested at Oshodi yesterday for robbing passers-by and other illegal activities were arraigned and sentenced to two weeks imprisonment by the Mobile Court sitting at Oshodi."

The state government has, in recent times, dislodged many miscreants and hoodlums, especially those who have turned pedestrian bridges into their hideouts and who attacked and robbed residents of their valuables.

Some of the miscreants and hoodlums were also charged to various mobile courts and were sentenced to various jail terms accordingly.
