Osun State Lawmakers Approve New Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission

According to reports from Vanguard, the Osun State House of Assembly has passed a bill to establish a public complaints and anti-corruption commission for the state.

The bill, titled "Osun State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission Establishment Bill 2023", was a private member bill introduced by Mr. Lawrence Adeoti, a lawmaker representing Ife South State Constituency.

The bill was passed after its third reading during the plenary session on Tuesday in Osogbo. According to Mr. Adeoti, the new commission will complement the efforts of the State Ministry of Justice and the Attorney-General in eradicating corruption in the state.

It will also help investigate allegations of corrupt practices against any person and refer such cases to the Attorney-General for necessary action.

After the passage of the anti-corruption bill, the Speaker of the Osun Assembly, Mr. Adewale Egbedun, stated that the bill will now be forwarded to the governor for his assent to become law.

In addition to the anti-corruption bill, the House also passed the Osun State Geographic Information Service Bill 2024 for a second reading.

The assembly also dissolved into a committee of the whole to deliberate further on the Osun State Senior Secondary Education Board Establishment Bill 2024.
