Bishop David Oyedepo Outlines Two Ways By Which One Can Access Divine Guidance

opera.com 2 days ago

In a sermon titled "Understanding How God Leads" during the July 2024 Week of Spiritual Emphasis, Bishop David Oyedepo, General Overseer of the Living Faith Church Worldwide, shared insights on accessing divine guidance. He outlined two ways by which we can access divine guidance. They are:

1. Be Born Again

Bishop Oyedepo emphasized that true divine guidance is reserved for those who have accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. "He leadeth His own sheep out; He goes before them. One is not eligible for His leading until he becomes one of His sheep," he explained, referencing John 10:1-4.

He urged individuals to genuinely open their hearts to Christ, cautioning against insincere conversions. "Don’t fake newbirth. It can keep anyone frustrated for life," he warned, citing John 3:3 and Romans 8:14. According to Bishop Oyedepo, a genuine new birth is the foundation for manifesting as sons of God and following His leadings in life.

2. Be Clothed with Meekness

The second key to accessing divine guidance, according to Bishop Oyedepo, is meekness. He noted that some individuals are resistant to divine direction due to their reliance on personal knowledge and expertise. "It takes meekness to be guided," he stated, referencing Psalm 25:9 and Matthew 11:29.

He emphasized the importance of humility in hearing and following God's instructions, even when they conflict with personal preferences or understanding. "Most of the things are not your taste, may not be your taste, but it’s to give you the best of taste later," he explained, drawing from Numbers 12:3 and Psalm 25:9,12.

Bishop Oyedepo illustrated his point by highlighting Moses, whose meekness enabled him to receive continuous divine signals. "It takes meekness to go for His direction instead of your own idea," he concluded, underscoring the need for humility in seeking and adhering to God's guidance.
