Laolu Akande, the former aide to the Vice President, emphasized that the decision is clear: the process must move forward. He urged Governor Bello to take responsibility by voluntarily submitting to the EFCC and addressing their inquiries. Akande cited past instances, like former Governor Fayose, who willingly cooperated with the EFCC without waiting for an official invitation. He also highlighted that more than 20 governors have faced trials conducted by the EFCC.

In conclusion, the former VP aide expressed his belief that Governor Bello has exacerbated his situation by escalating the issue and urged him to take immediate steps to rectify the situation.

He made these remarks in an interview with Channels Television.

According to Akande, "There is still time to redeem himself by surrendering himself to the EFCC and answering their question.

We have had people like Fayose; in the case of Fayose, he went there and didn't wait for them to invite him. There have been over 20 governors that have been tried by the EFCC. I think Governor Bello has just really messed himself up by turning this thing into a big deal."
