I Reconciled With Wike To Unify Rivers APC, Says Abe

The governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, in the March 2023 general elections in Rivers State, Senator Magnus Abe, has said that his reconciliation with the Minister of Federal Capital Territory, Chief Nyesom Wike is aimed at unifying the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the state.

Abe, who fell out with Wike prior to the 2023 general elections, dumped the All Progressives Congress APC the clinch the governorship ticket on the platform of the Social Democratic Party SDP, had however returned to the All Progressives Congress APC following the intervention of President Bola Tinubu.

Abe, who was the former representative of Rivers South East at the National Assembly in a post on his verified social media page on Thursday, thanked the FCT minister for accepting the peace process with him, after he was spotted alighting from the same vehicle the FCT minister rode in last weekend in Port Harcourt, during the thanksgiving service of the Caretaker Committee Chairman of the APC, Chief Tony Okocha.

Nigeria’s President, Bola Tinubu has gone to France, SaharaReporters has gathered.

The President's trip to France came a few days after his trip to Saudi Arabia officially ended following the conclusion of the World Economic Forum in Riyadh on Monday. Investigation by SaharaReporters showed that the President first went to London, England from Saudi Arabia on Tuesday, and then left the UK for France on Thursday.

While the Presidency has been silent on the trip to the UK from Saudi Arabia and later to France, SaharaReporters was told that the President's unreported trip to France was for medical reasons.

Leader of the Pan Niger Delta Forum, PANDEF, Chief Edwin Clark, has decried the freedom enjoyed by alleged corrupt politicians in the country.

Clark went further to accuse former President Muhammadu Buhari of imposing Abdullahi Adamu, a former Governor of Nasarawa State, who was charged to court by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, for alleged corruption, after his tenure as governor, as national chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.

He noted that nothing has so far been heard about 15 former governors and ministers who were dragged to court during the period when Nuhu Ribadu was the chairman of the EFCC.

In 2007, more than 15 former governors and ministers were charged to court during Ribadu’s time as the EFCC chairman,” he recounted during an interview on Arise TV.

“Some of them were charged to courts in Lagos, Abuja and so on. But after some time, some of these cases were not heard again.

FCTA to boost security with drones – Wike

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has said that the FCT Administration had commenced the procurement processes for drones to boost the security architecture of the territory.

Wike made this disclosure when the Consul-General of the Embassy of Hungary in Nigeria, Endre Deri, paid him a courtesy visit on Thursday in Abuja.

While responding to the consul-general’s comments on the need for drones, the minister said, “Whether we want some drones? Yes, there is no going back.”

He promised to discuss with security experts to consider a conversation with Deri on the type of drones that would be effective and efficient, based on the terrain of the FCT.
