According to the Arewa Youth Assembly, it is unacceptable for individuals or groups to engage in spreading falsehoods and orchestrating media campaigns against Minister Wike for taking action to address the deplorable state of the ICC. In a statement released by the group's Speaker, Mohammed Salihu Danlami, they emphasized the significance of the ICC in hosting various important domestic and foreign events, including serving as the venue for result collation by INEC during elections.

The statement from the Arewa Youth Assembly highlighted that Minister Wike's decision to prevent the ICC from deteriorating is being misconstrued through misinformation and malicious campaigns. The group defended Wike's commitment to national development, citing his support for initiatives that prioritize Nigeria's interests over tribal or political affiliations.

Emphasizing Wike's dedication to national unity, the statement refuted claims of tribal or ethnic bias, pointing out his actions as reflective of a detribalized Nigerian with a nationalist outlook. The group criticized those spreading lies and seeking personal gains at the expense of the country, attributing unpatriotic behavior to individuals coercing the public with false narratives and exploiting the nation's resources.

In the face of criticism directed at Minister Wike over the ICC closure, the Arewa Youth Assembly urged restraint and cautioned against unjust attacks on a public figure striving to uphold national interests.
