Prof. Aisha Sani Maikudi Assumes Leadership at University of Abuja, Vows Immediate Reforms

According to Vanguard, on Monday, Professor Aisha Sani Maikudi assumed office as the Acting Vice Chancellor of the University of Abuja, following the tenure conclusion of Professor AbdulRasheed Na’Allah.

Renowned for her expertise in International Law, Professor Maikudi was appointed last week by the university's Senate. At a brief ceremony held in the Vice Chancellor’s Conference Room, she pledged to initiate reforms, starting with the inauguration of the university’s Governing Council on Thursday, July 4, 2024.

Expressing gratitude to her predecessor, Professor Maikudi said, “I aim to build upon the outstanding work of my predecessor, whose leadership has guided us through many significant milestones.” She thanked Professor Na’Allah for his leadership, acknowledging his contributions to the university's growth.

“Our university is a beacon of knowledge, innovation, and community engagement,” she remarked, highlighting the collective role of faculty, staff, students, and alumni in sustaining and enhancing the university’s mission. She emphasized the importance of intellectual growth, creative exploration, and excellence.

Professor Maikudi announced the imminent inauguration of the University Governing Council, a move she believes will resolve ongoing impasses and refocus the university on its core mission of education and research.

As she embarks on this new chapter, Professor Maikudi committed to upholding the university’s values, prioritizing academic excellence, research and innovation, student success, staff welfare, community engagement, inclusivity, and diversity. Acknowledging the challenges ahead, she expressed confidence in the collective ability to overcome them through unity and shared dedication to educational principles.

She concluded by encouraging the university community to bring their passion, ideas, and energy to navigate the opportunities and challenges ahead.
