In a video released by Sahara TV, Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has addressed the ongoing political crisis in the region, highlighting the unusual situation of having two sitting governors: himself and Nyesom Wike, the current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). Governor Fubara expressed concerns over potential legal challenges facing the new Rivers State council, noting that litigation has become a common issue within the state.

During his address, Governor Fubara emphasized his role as the legitimate leader of Rivers State and the necessity of making decisions that reinforce his authority, distinguishing his governance from that of the Minister of FCT. He acknowledged the complexities and tensions arising from this dual governance scenario but stressed the importance of asserting his leadership.

"I won't be surprised if I leave here and I hear that they have taken you to court or they have gone to seal the council," Governor Fubara stated. "You know we have two governments now: the Rivers State government and the Abuja government. But whatever it is, for what is worth, we must take the decision to show that we are the ones in charge. So let me first congratulate the new chairman; you need to come up and sit at the high table."
