NDLEA Arrests Couple, Recovers N2.1b Drug In Raid On Lagos Cocaine Syndicate

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has scored a significant victory in its ongoing battle against drug trafficking, particularly cocaine, with a major raid in Lagos. Operatives targeted a high-profile syndicate, led by Agbakoba John Mmadu and his wife, Agbakoba Ijeoma Chinwe, along with their associate, Okoye Ifeoma Maryjane.

The raid, conducted following months of meticulous intelligence work, resulted in substantial seizures:

- Agbakoba John Mmadu: Arrested at Ago Palace Way, Okota area, where 7 parcels of cocaine weighing 7.652 kilograms were recovered.

- Agbakoba Ijeoma Chinwe and Okoye Ifeoma Maryjane: Apprehended at Lilly Estate, Amuwo Odofin area, with 122 compressed pellets weighing 2.42 kilograms.

In total, NDLEA recovered 10.1 kilograms of cocaine valued at over N2.1 billion.

The NDLEA's successes extended beyond Lagos:

- Benue State: Intercepted 350 grams of cocaine concealed in an MP3 speaker at a checkpoint in Otukpo, leading to the arrest of Odeh Anthony.

- Adamawa State: Arrested Yves Ahmat Gali with 20 compressed blocks of cannabis.

- Kano State: Apprehended Yusuf Abdulrahman with 1.250 kilograms of cannabis.

- Osun State: Arrested Ba’ale Ige Babatunde with 5 kilograms of fresh cannabis plants.

- Ondo State: Conducted a raid in Ifedore LGA, destroying 42,500 kilograms of cannabis and recovering 73.5 kilograms for prosecution.

- Abuja: Intercepted Sanusi Mamman and Usaini Ibrahim with significant quantities of codeine syrup, tramadol, diazepam, and rophynol.
