In a recent interview with The Sun, Elder statesman Chief Edwin Clark has urged Nigerian politicians to prioritize honesty and transparency in their actions and words.

Clark specifically referenced President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's recent announcement of fuel subsidy removal, which was not included in his speech but was implemented abruptly, leading to price changes and hardship for Nigerians.

While acknowledging the president's courage in taking the step, Clark emphasized the need for honesty and preparedness in governance, rather than making impulsive decisions that harm the people.

He cautioned against labeling opposing parties or governments as "evil organizations," promoting instead a culture of sincerity and accountability in politics.

Chief Clark's words resonate as a call to action for Nigerian leaders to prioritize the welfare and well-being of citizens, and to strive for transparency and honesty in their decision-making processes.

In his own words, “But since he, Bola Ahmed Tinubu (BAT), the President of Nigeria, did not put it in his speech, it shows clearly that they didn’t plan for it. Out of exuberance, the man decided to announce it. Before he got back to his home in Abuja here, prices had changed. NNPC had announced new prices for fuel. So Nigerians are suffering. I think that is the only thing I wanted to comment on. He was bold, courageous in removing it. But what I’m saying is that Nigerian politicians should be more honest, and should not say another government, another party, is an evil organisation.”
