According to report from ARISE TV, The People's Democratic Party (PDP) is gearing up for a crucial National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting scheduled to take place this week. The meeting aims to tackle internal conflicts within the party, which have far-reaching implications for its future trajectory.

Kola Ologbondiyan, the former national publicity secretary of the PDP, recently shared valuable insights into the party's internal dynamics. Beyond the spotlight on prominent figures like Nyesom Wike and Atiku Abubakar, Ologbondiyan emphasized that the issues run deeper. The PDP is grappling with the existence of two distinct factions, each advocating for different approaches.

This faction believes in an assertive role as the opposition party. Members advocate for rigorous scrutiny of the ruling party's policies, holding them accountable, and providing a strong counterbalance. They argue that a proactive stance is essential to safeguard democracy and protect citizens' interests.

In contrast, this faction prefers a more passive approach. They believe in allowing the ruling party to operate without significant challenge. Their argument centers around maintaining stability and avoiding unnecessary confrontation.

The heart of the matter lies in the leadership structure. Ologbondiyan highlighted the following key points. Within the PDP, they call for Damagun to step down, creating an opportunity for the North Central region to nominate a candidate to complete Iyorchia Ayu's term.

In Ologbondiyan words, "There are individuals firmly aligned with Atiku Abubakar who are advocating for Damagun to continue. Similarly, there are fervent Nyesom Wike supporters calling for Damagun to relinquish his position to allow for a North Central chairman to complete Iyorchia Ayu's tenure, based on principles of justice and fairness."
