In a statement issued on 13th July, 2024, by the Katsina State Elders' Forum, Ali Mohammed, the forum's secretary, in response to the present economic crisis and food shortage in the country, the forum revealed that food prices were increasing daily, that everything was expensive in the country, and that the decent people living in the north could not afford three square meals.

We are warning the federal government about this because it is quite serious. As a democratic leader with a good ear, Mr. Tinubu should fire his cabinet members who aren't giving him sound advice so he can run the country in a way that makes Nigerians happy.
In response to the serious security situation in the country, Ali Mohammed said, "Why shouldn't the Nigerian soldiers go to the North of the country if they can perform miracles and restore peace in other countries?" He went on to say that the bandits causing trouble in the area were active all over, and the military had a good idea of where they were.
