The police in Ogun State have arrested a male suspect with a human skull in the Isale Itoko area of Abeokuta, the state capital.

The suspect, identified as 45-year-old Lekan Akinyemi, was arrested by the Adatan Divisional Police Officer (DPO) on June 24 at approximately 3:50 a.m. for unlawfully possessing a human head.

Confirming the development in a statement yesterday, SP Omolola Odutola, spokesperson for the command, reported that Nojeem Balogun, a resident near Iyana Cele Car Wash in Abeokuta, visited the police station to report unusual activities at his late father's grave in Isale Itoko, Abeokuta, on June 23 at about 8:00 p.m. after being alerted by one of his siblings.

She said that during the inspection, he discovered that an unidentified individual or group had removed their father's head.

Further inquiries identified Lekan Akinyemi as the culprit, who was caught red-handed digging up the grave and severing the head.

"Akinyemi was caught in the act. The case will be handed over to the anti-robbery unit for investigation, after which it will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID). Odutola promised to provide more information at the conclusion of the investigation."
