Police Detain Over 270 Protesters, Declare 40 Others Wanted

The Kenyan Police authorities have confirmed the arrest of over 270 people over the nationwide protests which took place across the country on Tuesday. 

The police maintained that the arrested individuals are suspected of going on a criminal rampage during the public demonstration against bad governance. 

“Security forces across the country singled out suspects found engaging in criminal activities in the guise of protesting, and took them to custody,” the Directorate of Criminal Investigations said in a statement posted on X, formerly Twitter, late Tuesday.

DJ Cuppy Endorses LP

British-Nigerian disk jokey, Florence Otedola, popularly known as DJ Cuppy, has endorsed the Labour Party ahead of Thursday’s general election in the United Kingdom.

The music star explained that she endorsed the opposition against the ruling Conservative Party because “sometimes a change is necessary.”

She urged her UK fans to vote for the Labour Party on Thursday, stressing that votes “actually matter” in the UK.


Borno Attacks: CAN Urges Govt To Tackle Menace

The national leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) on Wednesday, July 3, pleaded with government to urgently tackle the incessant suicide attacks in Gwoza, Borno state. 

CAN expressed concerned about the resurgence of suicide bombing in the country and the threat it poses to the lives and livelihoods of Nigerians.

While commending security agencies for their efforts, the religious body urged them to do more.

Maverick singer, Charles Oputa, popularly known as Charly Boy, has reacted to a photo of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, making the rounds on the internet.

In the viral photo, the FCT minister was captured wearing a blue coat, blue pants, light blue shoes, and milk hat laced with blue, while holding a black staff.

The picture elicited mixed reactions, with many marvelling at the minister’s “unconventional” style.
