Arsenal 'Table Opening Bid' to Sign Talented Spanish Player
Arsenal make opening bid to Sign Martin Zubimendi In the impending transfer window, Mikel Arteta has the Spaniard as one of his main priorities.
According to reports from Italy, Arsenal has made a £43 million approach to sign midfielder Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad. The Spaniard is reportedly one of Mikel Arteta's main objectives for the forthcoming transfer window, as was revealed earlier this week.
The Gunners have already placed the initial bid to attempt to sign him. Barcelona and Juventus are two of the teams that are reportedly very interested in Zubimendi.
The London team is willing to convince the midfield player to join, despite his previous insistence that he would not be leaving San Sebastian in the summer.
Arsenal has placed their initial £43 million proposal for Zubimendi, according to TuttoMercato. The Gunners want to get ahead of other teams that may be interested in the midfield player, therefore they plan to pay less than his initial £51 million release clause.
According to Pavan, Juventus believes the transfer cost is excessively exorbitant. Recently, Zubimendi—whom Fabrizio Romano previously described to GMS as a "fantastic player"—has also been connected to Barcelona, as many feel the Spaniard might finally succeed Blaugrana legend Sergio Busquets.
Similar to Busquets during his prime at Camp Nou, Zubimendi can manage the game's tempo and provides excellent ball distribution from deep inside the pitch.
Although Zubimendi, whom Romano also claimed Arteta is a huge admirer of, has previously stated that he is content at his current club, he might be persuaded to leave if given the opportunity to play in the Champions League the following season.
Real Sociedad is now seventh in La Liga and 16 points outside of the Champions League berths with three games remaining, having finished fourth in the previous season.
