According to Vanguard, Salihu Lukman, the former National Vice Chairman, North-West, of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has expressed concern over the increasing sense of despondency within Nigeria. He attributed this sentiment to the current administration under President Bola Tinubu. Lukman emphasized the need for political leaders to come together and address these issues collectively. He suggested that a united front could challenge the administration's approach and potentially bring about much-needed change.

Lukman noted that despite the growing dissatisfaction among the populace, the federal government remains firmly in control. He described the situation as an advanced stage of 'state capture,' where the influence and power of the federal government are so entrenched that it becomes difficult for opposition forces to make significant headway. This state of affairs, he believes, has stifled efforts to galvanize a united opposition against the current administration.

The political landscape, according to Lukman, is marked by fragmentation and isolation among key political figures. He pointed out that leading opposition leaders, such as Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, Mr. Peter Obi, and Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, are not collaborating effectively. This lack of unity among opposition leaders, he argued, is a significant barrier to forming a cohesive strategy to counter the federal government's policies and actions.

Lukman’s observations highlight the challenges faced by opposition leaders in Nigeria. The deep-rooted divisions and the individualistic approach of these leaders undermine their ability to present a united front. This situation, he suggested, only serves to reinforce the dominance of the current administration, leaving little room for coordinated opposition efforts.

He said: Most political leaders, including the leading opposition leaders, such as Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, Mr. Peter Obi and Sen. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso were all operating in isolation to one another.
