Chidi Lloyd, Chairman of Emuoha Local Government Area, has voiced concerns about fund management in Rivers State, as reported by Punch.
Lloyd alleges that the governor has been manipulating local government funds without their consent, with undisclosed deductions being made from their allocations.
He criticizes the lack of transparency surrounding the amount received from the federation account, indicating a troubling situation.
Furthermore, Lloyd highlights the failure to allocate the ecological fund and the absence of the 10 percent Internally Generated Revenue meant for local governments.
He also claims that funds from the President are not reaching the local governments as intended. These issues have caused frustration and disappointment among local government officials in Rivers State.
In expressing his dissatisfaction, Lloyd references a biblical verse warning about the consequences of inexperienced leadership.
Llyod stated, “The governor has been illegally tampering with our money without our approval. Deductions are made; we do not even know how much comes from the federation account. It is as bad as that.
Speaking further he stated that, “The ecological fund that has since been released has not been given to us. Then the 10 per cent Internally Generated Revenue that ought to come to the local governments are not also coming.
He added that, “Even the funds from Mr President do not come to the local governments. So, it is unfortunate that we have arrived at this point in Rivers State.
But we take solace in what Ecclesiastes said in chapter 10 verse 16: Woe to the city whose king is a child."
