The latest move by the South-East governors and members of the National Assembly, NASS, to meet with President Bola Tinubu to discuss the release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has sparked diverse reactions.

Bayelsa: Stop Junketing, Face Governance– Sylva’s Aide Blasts Diri

Julius Bokoru, the Special Assistant on Media and Public Affairs to the former Governor of Bayelsa State, Timipre Sylva, has raised the alarm over multiple local and foreign trips made by Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri.

Bokoru, who spoke in Yenagoa at the weekend, described Diri as a junketing governor, who had abandoned governance.

Referring to Diri as a globetrotter, Bokoru said the governor was constantly looking for any opportunity to jet out of Bayelsa, noting that his knack for traveling had drilled a big hole in the state’s pocket.


Former NLC President Kidnapped In Kaduna

A former President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Mr Takai Shamang has been abducted in his hometown, Biniki, in Kaura Local Government Area of Kaduna state.

Shamang, 78, was also a former President General of the National Union of Electricity and Gas Workers, now National Union of Electricity Employees between 1982 and 1989.

Confirming the development to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), his daughter, Mrs Grace Abbin, said her 78-year-old father was abducted at his residence in Biniki, at about 8:00pm on Friday.


Let's Learn From Kenyan Experience- Peter Obi Tasks Political Leaders

The Labour Party, LP, presidential candidate in the 2023 general election, Peter Obi, has tasked Nigerian political leaders to learn a lesson from the recent Kenyan experience.

Obi made this call on Sunday via his official X handle while reacting to the recent rally against proposed tax hikes by Kenyan citizens.

He lamented that Nigerian political leaders use public funds to pay media thugs to insult and abuse those who speak truth to power.
