You Can't Tell Us To Fast And You're Feasting. If We Must Fast, It Must Start From You - Peter Obi

The Nigerian government's lack of commitment to youth development has been a source of great worry for Peter Obi, the Labour Party's (LP) presidential candidate for 2023, as reported by Vanguard.

Obi voiced his dissatisfaction with the current situation while on a weekend visit to the Holy Rosary School of Nursing in Emekuku, Owerri North Council Area, Imo State, to support the school's aspiration to become a university.

To quote him, "I can tell you what it takes for somebody like me to be in government. I can give these people here a free education. That is what I am doing now. We need to remove those costs and apply the resources where they make more impact."

Obi, who acknowledged that he is a member of the political establishment in Nigeria, attacked politicians for not living up to expectations.

He said, "I can’t come to a school like this, and the director is telling me he borrows money to run these facilities. I feel pained. That is why I said I will come back in September, and I am doing so with my money. We should do more."

Regarding the issue of economic suffering in Nigeria, he emphasized that the moment has arrived for us to take the appropriate action. He implored the leaders to make further sacrifices, saying that this cannot continue, particularly for our children's future.

In reaction to the claim made by the government that there are insufficient funds to pay the minimum wage, Obi stated, "The conduct of the people who are operating it should show that there is no money."

"You cannot tell us to fast, and you are feasting. If we must fast, it must start from you. That is how it does."
