Global Integrity Crusade Network (Gicn) Withdraws Petition Of Alleged 20 Billion Financial Fraud

Global Integrity Crusade Network (GICN) has on Thursday, 2nd, 2024, withdrawn their claims of financial fraud allegations of 20 billion Naira that the organization petitioned to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) against the persons of Hon Dr. Dennis Akura, Special Adviser to the Executive Governor of Benue State on Bureau of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, and his Principal, Rev Fr Dr Hyacinth Iormem Alia.

The withdrawal notice was duly signed by the GICN Secretary, Mr Uchenna Mojekwu, and submitted to the EFCC and Chief Magistrate Court 1, Makurdi on 2nd May, 2024.

In the withdrawal notice, the petitioners (GICN) described their alleged documents and claims as "unsubstantial and misleading".

Recalled that, on the 27th February, 2024, the Nigerian Concord News online and other Social Media platforms such as Facebook and WhatsApp published a Petition which encompasses "Corrupt practices, gross abuse of offices, massive fraud, embezzlement, and diversion of over 20 billion Naira being part of the aggregate Federal Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) funds accrued to the 23 Local Government Council in Benue State between June to November 2023 using individuals and Private owned Companies against Hon Dr Dennis Akura, his Principal, Rev Fr Dr Hyacinth Iormem Alia, and all the local government managers.

This withdrawal notice came immediately after the Chief Magistrate Court session yesterday, 2nd May, 2024, arraigned and remanded the accused person Mr Uchenna Mojekwu to the facility of Federal Correction Center Makurdi under three count charges which include: Cyber Stalking, Conspiracy cum defamation of Character following the Petition by the Counsel to Dr Dennis Akura, Barr. Steven Akpehe, which called for the arrest of the accused person.
