Terrorism: Troops Recover Bodies Of Military Officers And Soldiers From Community In Niger State

Not fewer than six bodies of the missing Nigerian military personnel have been reportedly recovered in Alawa areas of Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State.

According to Daily Post, the development took place during a gun duel between the soldiers, vigilantes and suspects members of the dreaded Boko Haram Terrorists' group on Friday, 19th of April, 2024.

The report had it that hundreds of the armed terrorists had invaded and surrounded Bassa Community for three days during when they committed many atrocities, including burning two houses at Masigo community.

It was said that, upon receiving a distress call from the communities, the Military Joint Task Force of Alawa, Erena and Pandogari, including some members of the vigilante groups in Shiroro, joined together and engaged the bandits in a fierce battle at Lolo in Alawa area. It was said that the face-off led to casualties from both sides.

It was gathered, according to sources from the area who spoke on condition of anonymity, that the dead persons included a captain major and four others. Their bodies which were recovered from the bush were said to be riddled with bullet shots on their heads.

The sources also made it known that the security officers missed their way while they were countering the members of the suspected members of Boko Haram Terrorists on Friday night.

The Daily Post stated that the Nigeria military authorities were said to be yet to confirm the killings of the personnel as at the time of filing the report.
