In a recent development, the Court of Appeal in Port Harcourt has made a decisive ruling, dismissing two appeals lodged by Local Government Chairmen connected with Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike, as reported by DAILY POST.

The appeals, identified as CA/PH/137M/2024 and CA/PH/145M/2024, were brought forth by Enyiada Cookey-Gam and six others.

These appeals contested the rulings of the High Court concerning the extension of their tenure.

In a pronouncement delivered on Monday, the Court found the appeals lacking in substantive merit and subsequently struck them down.

This legal development solidifies the decisions previously made by the lower court on the contested tenure elongation.

"This ruling affirms the judiciary's commitment to upholding legal precedent," a judicial spokesperson stated.

The Chairmen's legal challenge came from their dissatisfaction with the High Court's handling of their tenure extension issue.

However, the appellate judges, after careful consideration of the arguments presented, determined that the appeals failed to meet the required legal thresholds for review.

The Court's dismissal of the appeals marks an important conclusion to this chapter of legal contention, bringing clarity to the tenure status of the affected Local Government Chairmen.
