Bishop David Oyedepo, the General Overseer of Living Faith Church Worldwide, delivered a compelling message during the Covenant Day of Exemption Service.

In his sermon titled "The Bible: A Most Reliable Guide of Life 2," he warned against redefining the fear of God, emphasizing its true meaning as departing from evil and warns against it another meaning.

"The Word of God does not guide just anyone but the redeemed," Oyedepo stated, underscoring the transformative power of spiritual rebirth. He reflected on his own journey, noting that before he became a believer, the teachings of the Church made little impact. "I can’t remember anything because perhaps the people teaching me too don’t know what they are talking about. There was no entrance. As soon as I got born again, I began to see light from God’s Word."

Bishop Oyedepo stressed that understanding the mysteries of the Bible requires spiritual rebirth. "You can’t grasp the truth until you are born again. No matter what they teach you, it won’t enter. Only the redeemed can receive the mysteries that are embedded in the Word," he explained.

Central to his message was the biblical definition of the fear of God. "The fear of God as a lifestyle, according to Psalm 25:14, is to depart from evil," Oyedepo asserted. "The Bible defines it, so don’t define it with another translation. Job 28:28 clearly states that the fear of God is to depart from evil."

Bishop Oyedepo also highlighted the conditions necessary for divine guidance: being spiritually minded, having a love for God, and maintaining meekness. "God’s Word will guide the redeemed, the spiritually minded, and those who are in love with Him. A natural man cannot grasp the things of the Spirit without being spiritually minded," he said.

He encouraged believers to genuinely seek divine direction. "Have a genuine crave to be guided. Many believers’ minds are made up on what to do, their call for divine direction is mere religion. You can’t play God, He is smarter than everybody. He knows your thoughts afar off."
