At the July 2024 Leadership Empowerment Summit held at LFC Canaanland, Bishop David Oyedepo delivered a message on the nature of God's prosperity plan, emphasizing that it transcends traditional religious practices such as prayer and fasting.

In his sermon titled "What Are Prophecies," Bishop Oyedepo laid out a profound theological perspective that God's prosperity plan operates as a covenant, independent of human intercessions.

"God's prosperity plan has no respect for prayer and fasting," declared Bishop Oyedepo. He explained that this plan is rooted in divine covenants that require believers to play their part for God to be committed.

Referencing Deuteronomy 8:18, he highlighted, "My prosperity plan is a covenant. Until your part is played, I'm not committed." This underscores that while prayer and fasting are essential spiritual disciplines, they alone do not activate God's covenant of prosperity.

Bishop Oyedepo elaborated on his personal journey, recounting a pivotal moment in 1981 during a prayer and fasting session when he encountered Deuteronomy 15:6: "...thou shall lend to many nations, but thou shall not borrow."

This scripture led him to make a lifelong covenant against borrowing. "I said, 'Jesus, I choose you, I despise the lender,' and I made a covenant against borrowing till I go to heaven," he recalled, illustrating the practical application of adhering to divine principles over mere religious rituals.

Bishop Oyedepo explained that God's promises of prosperity are conditional upon the believer's obedience to His covenant terms. "My son, my prosperity plan is not a promise; it does not answer to prayers," he quoted from his divine revelation.

While acknowledging the importance of prayer and fasting in a believer's life, he emphasized that these practices must be coupled with a steadfast commitment to God's covenant requirements. "Prophetic scriptures are powerful," he stated, encouraging believers to embrace the full spectrum of God's instructions to unlock the blessings of prosperity.
