Abubakar Nuhu, a 50-year-old father, has admitted to the three days he spent chained and starving his 5-year-old son, Hussaini Abubakar. Hussaini, a little boy, was rescued by the Nigerian police from his room in the Gwallagan Mayaka neighborhood of Bauchi Metropolis.

His father had him bound and locked up, as reported by the Daily Post. Some worried neighbours called the police, and they were able to save the victim. The suspect, Abubakar Nuhu, admitted during questioning that he had committed the crime due to his son's suspected theft habit, according to a statement issued by SP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, spokesman for the Bauchi state command.

Based on a friend's recommendation, Nuhu reportedly tied his son and starved him for three days to deter him from stealing from their neighbors. The state PPRO went on to say that the DPO had been told by the Commissioner of Police to forward the matter to the State CID so that they could look into Nuhu's motivations for the crime.
