Abdullahi Usman Bello's nomination to head the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) has been approved by the Senate. The confirmation came after Senator Neda Bernards Imasuen, who chairs the Senate Committee on Ethics, Code of Conduct, and Public Petitions, presented a positive report to the Senate Committee on Thursday.

After President Bola Tinubu modified the 1999 Constitution, Abdullahi, a native of Gombe State, was nominated for the position of CCB chairman in accordance with Section 154 of the law. The chairman of the Senate committee said that Abdullahi has the necessary credentials and expertise, and because no Nigerian has approached the upper chamber to request his candidature, it should be allowed.

"That the Senate does hold a meeting to review the report from the Committee on Ethics, Code of Conduct and Public Petitions regarding the confirmation of Abdullahi Usman Bello's appointment as Chairman of Code of Conduct Bureau, in compliance with Section 154 of the Federal Republic of Nigeria's Constitution, as amended," Senator Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo, speaking in response to the debate, praised the nominee's excellent character, stating that the nominee is a qualified accountant hailing from Gombe.

In his confirmation hearing, he assured senators that he would carry out his duties in compliance with CCB statutes. He was confirmed by voice vote after remarks by Deputy Senate President Jibrin Barau, who presided over session.
