Darlington Orji, the newly installed caretaker chairman of the Ikwerre LGA of Rivers State, recently criticised Tony Okocha, the caretaker chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), for stating that the Amaewhule-led members of the Rivers State House of Assembly are who they say they are: members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). This occurred during an interview with Politics Today, a Channels Television programme.
Tony Okocha had arranged a reception for the legislators, he said.
"However, I must inform you that Tony Okocha ought to have the courage to publicly announce that he not only hosted and fêted those individuals in a well-planned reception, but also issued an order to the APC members serving in the Rivers State House of Assembly to initiate impeachment proceedings," Mr. Orji had expressed. He keeps lying, why? The man in question is Chief Tony Okocha; he ought to be able to tell you your name without any trouble. I will not be aggressive; I love my people and have served them in many capacities; now that God has entrusted me with the responsibility of overseeing their affairs and resources, it is not my place to go and harm them. So, let me tell you what I'm going to do: I'm working on the ground to clear that barricade.
