Rivers Crisis: Drama in court as PDP, APC applied to be joined in Pro-Wike lawmakers defection case

A mild drama unfolded in court on Friday as several Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) filed a lawsuit against Rivers State House of Assembly Speaker Martin Amaewhule and 24 other lawmakers. The contention arose between two lawyers over representing the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which sought to join the case. The All Progressive Congress (APC) also applied to be joined.

According to the Channels Television News reporter at the court, the argument was between two lawyers, over who would represent the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who applied to be joined in the matter. The All Progressive Congress (APC) also applied to be joined.

Pro-Wike Rivers Assembly Members

The hearing of the case, involving the CSOs and the lawmakers, commenced at the Port Harcourt division of the Federal High Court. The CSOs are urging the court to declare the lawmakers' seats vacant due to their defection from the PDP to the APC.
