A recent article from The SUN highlighted Chief Ola Apena's worries about the leadership turmoil within the Lagos State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Apena particularly raised concerns about the dispute over the party's 2023 gubernatorial candidate, Abdul-Azeez Adediran (Jandor), proclaiming himself as the party's top leader in the state, alongside other contentious matters.

When asked about how to address the ongoing issues within Lagos PDP, he recommended a direct solution. Apena proposed that those who backed rival parties during elections should stay with those parties, whether it's the Labour Party or the APC. He underscored the disruptive consequences of individuals switching their loyalties, which leads to instability within the PDP.

He said: "Let those who worked for the Labour Party stay in the Labour Party and let those who worked for APC stay in APC. Some have already gone to APC and let those who are still remaining leave the party. They are wreaking havoc in the party."

He highlighted the significance of prioritizing quality over quantity, suggesting that it's preferable to engage in a conflict with a dedicated, smaller group rather than a larger one lacking commitment. Apena underscored the need for change, cautioning against sticking to the same strategy which would only lead to identical outcomes. He urged the national leadership to take decisive steps to tackle the issue.
