Kenyan across the country have been calling for action against all cops who were caught on camera Killing or injuring unarmed protestors.
Well, thsse pleas seem to have caught the presidents attention aftwer he spoke on the said matter on today.
Accoridng to sources ,President William Ruto on Thursday vowed to take decisive action against police officers who violated the law by causing harm to peaceful protestors.
In a cabinet dispatch, the Head of State disclosed that legal measures would be taken against the officers found culpable of harming demonstrators during the recent protests.
The president noted that the cabinet had already approved legal procedures against the officers and that the mandated institutions had already been informed.
“On any officers who may have acted outside the confines of the law, the Cabinet said they will be dealt with by legal procedure and by the institutions mandated to do so,” read part of the cabinet dispatch.
President Ruto went ahead to commend security officers who acted professionally against the protestors, pointing out that most officers acted in the right way in very difficult circumstances.
According to Ruto, security agencies had already stabilized the recent violent situation witnessed in the country and were continuing to monitor the developments.
The Cabinet also called for action against those who have committed heinous crimes of arson, looting and robbery, among others, saying such atrocities must not go unpunished.
In a cabinet dispatch, the Head of State disclosed that the peaceful Gen Z protests were infiltrated by criminals who went ahead to rob and destroy both public and private property.
The president noted the violent protests were further instigated fueled by a section of politicians in the country.
According to Ruto, the violent protests forced the government to heighten security operations by deploying the military and other special security agencies.
