According to the report from the Vanguard, Nollywood actress Abidemi Adisa, hailing from the Yoruba extraction, has highlighted the issue of the 'sex-for-role' syndrome as a significant concern within the movie industry, stating that it has led to the departure of highly talented and well-meaning actors from the field.

In a recent statement, Adisa acknowledged that the phenomenon indeed exists, noting that it has been a contributing factor in driving numerous individuals, both male and female, away from the Nigerian movie scene. She emphasized that while prevalent in Nollywood, this issue is not exclusive to the film industry alone but is also present in other sectors.

She said, "Luckily for me, no one has ever asked me for sex for a role because I’m not desperate for stardom." This assertion reflects her stance on maintaining integrity and professionalism within the industry.

Sharing insights into her journey in acting, Adisa expressed, "My passion for the make-believe industry propelled me towards acting. I have always admired how talented actors bring roles to life, captivating audiences with their performances. This admiration greatly influenced my decision to pursue acting as a career."

Having honed her acting skills under the tutelage of veteran actor Mr. Saidi Balogun, Adisa has graced the screens in various movie productions, including 'Violence part 1&2,' 'Bisola Peperenpe,' 'Tani,' 'Drotimi,' 'Ire,' 'Asiri Pepe,' and 'Akete.' Additionally, she has ventured into production, with three movies to her credit, namely 'Ota,' 'Ojiji Ife,' 'Bidemi Jagba 1 & 2.'

Presently, the versatile actress is actively involved in a new project set to be filmed in both the United Kingdom and Nigeria. Titled 'Iku Ore,' the narrative revolves around a woman who goes above and beyond to please her friend, despite neglecting her own well-being."

In conclusion, Adisa's remarks shed light on the challenges faced by actors in the industry and underscore the importance of upholding professionalism and dignity in the face of such adversities.
