Tinubu: Former members who carried flag of your party claim to be members of Assembly–Edwin Clark

According to the report from the Vanguard, the former Federal Commissioner for Information and South South Leader, Chief Edwin Clark urged President Tinubu to empathize with Governor Fubara's predicament, drawing parallels to Tinubu's own experiences of unjust treatment under former President Obasanjo's administration, during which the federal government withheld vital funds from Lagos State.

He questioned how the former members of the State House of Assembly could still claim to be part of the Assembly despite publicly switching political parties, carrying APC flags, and chanting APC slogans.

He argued that this behavior violates Section 109(1) g of the 1999 Constitution and cited Supreme Court judgments that support their position.

He said, "As a former Governor (Tinubu) yourself who suffered under the heavy hand of President Obasanjo and held your funds for several years, you can appreciate the unnecessary pressure and distraction which the Governor is going through by having a very high handed former boss breathing down on him with federal might.

Let me ask, if not for federal might, on what basis would former members of the State House of Assembly who publicly declared to all; a change of political party and were seen carrying the flag of your party and singing the songs of your party still claim to be members of the Assembly. Is this not contrary to Section 109(1) g of the 1999 Constitution and extant Supreme Court Judgement as I referred to earlier?"
