After conducting raids in the Gwagwa and DeiDei neighbourhoods of the city, operational members of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command have apprehended five individuals they believe to be kidnappers. The raids were carried out between June 30 and July 3 by the operation, which was commanded by members of the Utako Division. An unknown number of family members were abducted in a kidnapping event involving the suspects in Gwagwa. According to the police, the kidnappers murdered two people on June 12 after receiving a ransom of N12 million from the relatives of the victims.

A total of twenty-one people, including Umar Abdullahi, Likita Abubakar, Salisu Sani, Sabiu Mohammed, and Aliyu Suleiman, are being held on suspicion. A number of abductions and other horrific crimes in the Capital Territory have been attributed to them, according to the police, who made the announcement on Thursday. Even though "they have all confessed to the crime," the agents searched the hideout upon arrest and found four AK-47 rifles, a Dane gun, two magazines, and eight unexpended live ammunition.

The investigators are still gathering evidence, but FCT Commissioner of Police Benneth Igweh has reassured the public that the command will never stop working to keep them safe. Not only that, he reminded the community to stay alert and report any suspicious activity to the police at 08032003913, 08028940883, 08061581938, and 07057337653 (PCB: 09022222352, CRU: 08107314192).
