According to a report by Times of Israel, Israel has introduced new demands that may prolong the talks for a ceasefire and hostages-for-prisoners deal with Hamas, according to an unnamed foreign source cited by Haaretz.

"Hamas had already given its approval to the latest stance presented by Israel. But in the meeting on Friday, Israel presented new issues," the source stated.

An unnamed Israeli source familiar with the negotiations also told Haaretz that Israel has taken a "tough stance" in the talks.

Several outlets have reported that Israeli sources estimate the talks are expected to continue for approximately three weeks.

The latest development comes as a setback in the ongoing negotiations between Israel and Hamas, mediated by Qatar, Egypt, and the U.S. The talks aim to secure the release of hostages held by Hamas in Gaza and establish a ceasefire between the two sides.

The introduction of new demands by Israel has raised concerns about further delays in reaching an agreement. Hamas had previously signaled its approval of Israel's latest proposal, but the Friday meeting saw Israel present fresh issues that may prolong the negotiations.

The tough stance taken by Israel in the talks, as described by the unnamed Israeli source, suggests that the parties may face challenges in finding common ground on the new demands raised by Israel.

With the talks expected to continue for several more weeks, it remains to be seen whether the two sides can overcome the latest hurdle and make progress towards a final agreement that addresses the concerns of both Israel and Hamas.
