However, the education union clarified that a strike is not imminent if the federal government, led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, implements the agreements within the next two weeks.

ASUU has announced that it is not yet planning to strike if the federal government fulfills its commitments.

Professor Osodeke shared this update on Monday, July 8, during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

Previously, ASUU had threatened to embark on an industrial action due to the non-implementation of agreements reached with the federal government.

On June 26, the Minister of Education, Professor Tahir Mamman, invited the union to a meeting to discuss the ongoing issues affecting universities and to prevent the planned strike.

Speaking on Monday, Osodeke expressed disappointment that none of the agreements had been implemented.

Some of these demands include the non-implementation of the 2009 re-negotiated agreements.

"At the meeting called by the Minister of Education, we agreed that after two weeks, we will meet to see the progress the government has made," he stated.
